Surrounded by sisters and being the youngest in the family, Nelson's job as a talented stylist was a natural, organic progression. Getting an apprenticeship at Vidal Sassoon catapulted his career and moved him to California, where he became their West Coast instructor. Becoming more serious about his passion for styling, Nelson moved to NYC where he worked with salons such as John Frieda and Oribe, eventually settling at his long-time friend, Rita Hazan's salon.
I style what you would call ˜The Rainbow Tribe." My cuts are everything from the classics to the future but they all have one common characteristic: they are beautiful. Beauty that is done well and sexy.
Nelson continues to do editorial work and has collaborated with Italian Vogue, Italian Glamour, Elle, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, i-D, Rolling Stone, Surface, Vibe, Vogue and V to name a few. He has also styled hair for runway shows including Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Calvin Klein, Escada, Philip Tracey, Zac Posen, Benjamin Cho, Lacoste and Miguel Adrover. Nelson's extensive celebrity cliental consists of Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Vanessa Manillo, Nick Lachey, Diana Ross, Jaime Pressley, Sylvia Rhone, Tamia, Donatella Versace, Naomi Campbell, Felicia Rashaad, Fefe Dobson, Calista Flockhart, Iman, Venus Williams and Serena Williams.
