Joelle Dunrovich
Stylist
Joelle realized her love of styling hair as a young girl living in New Jersey. She picked up her first pair of scissors at the age of 10, and the rest is history. She first started cutting family members' hair, and then soon turned her talent into her own "business," cutting girls' hair in the high school bathroom for $10 a cut while also working part-time at a local salon. These humble beginnings lay the foundation for a girl who would eventually become one of NYC's top stylists. Once she graduated high school, Joelle moved to New York City to study at Robert Fiance Beauty School. She got her first big break at the Jean Louis David Salon at Henri Bendel, and the world quickly caught on to her innate talents. Two years later, Joelle was off to Paris to study under the famed Bruno Dessange. Upon her return to New York shortly thereafter, Joelle was named Creative Director at Oribe, where she spent seven busy years, seeing up to 25 clients a day, with four chairs and four assistants. In between her work at Oribe, Joelle was jetting off to Paris and Milan to work the couture fashion shows, including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors. After taking some personal time off, Joelle decided in 2006 that it was time to re-connect with her salon roots, and Rita Hazan Salon was the natural fit. Joelle joined the team in September 2006, bringing her extensive background and experience to the 5th Avenue beauty mecca. "I believe women have an image of how they want to look, but oftentimes cannot quite express it exactly as they want. I encourage my clients to talk about their likes and dislikes, taking in their whole person to create a look that feels good for them, one that they're truly happy with," says Joelle. "One could say I specialize in 'custom couture hair.' My background in beauty and fashion allows me to really do anything with what my client presents me with. In the end, it's about making that person look good, feel great and leave my chair with a satisfied smile."
